Utilities are common to many Buildings and Manufacturing processes. They provide the necessary energy and working fluids to carry out the required process operations and to ensure comfort to the operators and office workers. Utilities provide air, steam, hot water, electricity, cold fluids, compressed air, etc. Basically, any consuming equipment that is not part of the manufacturing process will be considered as a “Utility”, even if there are no fluids involved (e.g. lighting).
This Section will give an overview of typical energy savings actions in the following utilities: combustion systems, compressed air, chillers, lighting, water & water treatment.
